Bicycles are popular all over the world as environmentally friendly vehicles. At the same time, young people tend to cycle because it is healthy and cost-effective. However, many health-conscious people in the city are using bicycles regularly. Enthusiastic young people have formed various cycling groups and organizations.

Two-wheeled bicycles have been running for almost 200 years. However, the first two-wheeler was brought to the public by Carl von Darren of Germany. He happened to be in Mannheim, Germany, in 1817 and showed everyone his vehicle. It can’t be called a bicycle. Instead, it is something like a bicycle, from where the idea of ​​a modern bicycle came. The use of modern bicycles began in the United States in 1988. Since then, there is no telling how many types of bicycles have come into the market.

Types of bicycles:

1. Mountain Bike (MTB): This bike has gears and suspension. This bike is used for mountain rides. This bike has one or two suspensions. Three types of wheel size MTBs are available. 26, 27.5, and 29.

2. Road Bike: This tie is that thin wheeled bicycle. It has gears but no suspension. This bike is for plain roads. This bike is used for racing.

3. Fixie Bike: The wheels of this bike are also thin and without suspension. However, the main feature of this bike is that it does not have any gears and brakes. In this bicycle, if you turn the pedal back, the bicycle goes backward, and if you turn the pedal off, the bicycle stops.

4. Sand / Fat Bike: The name suggests that something is thick. Yes so, the wheels on this bike are pretty thick, like the wheels of a motorcycle. This bike has no suspension. This bike is usually used for riding in sand and snow.

5. Hybrid Bike: This bike is a combination of MTB and Road Bike. As a result, both bikes have more or more minor advantages. In many cases, MTB is converted to this Hybrid Bike by simply changing the tires and tubes.

6. City Bike: Phoenix-type bicycles are included.

7. BMX Bike: This bike is used for stunts. This bike has small wheels and no gears.

In April 2018, the UN General Assembly decided to observe World Bicycle Day on June 3 every year. The need for Bicycle Day has been raised by the United Nations, saying, ‘Bicycles are unique as a vehicle, Sustainable and diverse. Everyone can use bicycles to overcome inequality. The bike is reliable, clean, and does not harm the environment.

Benefits of cycling:

  1. Strengthens muscles — Cycling is not just a leg exercise. Regular cycling puts pressure on every muscle in our body, which helps the muscles be well-formed and robust.
  2. Reduces the risk of heart disease — Cycling keeps our heart, lungs, and blood pressure functioning normally. And in this way, the heart stays healthy, and immunity increases.
  3. Reduced risks of diabetes — For those with type A and type B diabetes, doctors recommend cycling. A large study in Finland found that cycling for 30 minutes a day reduced the risk of diabetes by more than 40 percent.
  4. Increased work ethic — The stamina we need to work, we get that work ethic from regular cycling. It helps us to gain our desired goals quickly.
  5. Reduces stress — Cycling reduces mental anxiety and depression. Even regular cycling increases patience.
  6. Reduces body fat — Cycling keeps the body fit. Do not allow excess fat to accumulate in the body. And increases the efficiency of the body.

Bicycle stands in front of the metro, bus stations, and various parks and educational institutions like Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Montreal in Canada. Anyone can ride a bicycle from here to the city or use it for necessary purposes. There are designated lanes for cycling on the main road. Bangladesh is currently one of the leading bicycle manufacturers in the world. Many companies in the country are importing and exporting different models of bicycles.

Cycling on the busy streets of the city is not easy. In this case, the issue of self-protection is crucial. When buying a bicycle, check that the safety gear is correct. Even if you ride a bicycle, obey the traffic laws. It is essential to have a helmet, hand gloves, bell, and front light, stand in the interest of safety when using the bicycle during the day or night.
